RSR2
« on: April 23, 2014, 12:23:31 »
Anyone interested in doing an RSR2 (River safety and Rescue) this Sunday? It's a really good course to do, we need 6 to run it.

The RSR2 course is detailed here:
http://www.canoe.ie/en-gb/awardsqualifications/riversafetyamprescueawards.aspx#_Toc286834736

Anyone interested?

Most of the equipment will be provided if the canoe club doesn't already have it!

Any other time the club has run an RSR the people participating have borrowed the required gear off other members if they don't already have it.

It'll be €15 each.

Everyone should have a rope and a ideally a rescue BA. You should be able to borrow a rope from the club, and see if you can borrow a rescue BA and any other gear on the list.

I may come along to try out a boat and I could also be used as a dummy for swims :) (so don't count me in numbers since I've done it)

You don't need to worry too much about gear guys. We will do a gear talk and can go through some of the pros and cons and what would suit your needs.

A throw bag will be required, but the club has some and I have a couple of spares.

That's about it really. Rescue BA is good but not vital and I have some spares and most people in the club have one and have in the past been kind enough to loan.
Slings and crabs are handy but not 100% vital and again usually people in the club have been kind enough to loan.

I'd like to try this out but if you need your Level 3 to do it- I'll have to wait until next time!

Don't think it's necessary once Dave is happy to have you on it! :) There were a few non level 3s at our one!

If anyone wants a rescue BA then they can have a lend of my old one! A dashing bluey-purple colour.

Also up for buying for €35.00 if anyone wants their own.
