I watched that last night too, pretty awesome. I'd say the impact was painful to say the least. Looks FUN though ;)

The guy is Ed Lucerno and he's a bit of an old school 'outsider' legend - not sponsored, boats for fun only, a proper soulboater. He got lots of flak for this waterfall run from the 'proper' kayakers. For example, people were saying it doesn't 'count' as a world record because he swam, he's an idiot for doing it in a playboat, blah blah blah...

It's definitely Lucerno on Alexandra Falls in Canada.

Allio: I'll take this opportunity to 'come out' - I'm buying a new boat and it will be bigger than the Disco. The Disco recently announced its retirement from international kayaking. We're still friends, but it doesn't want to run the hard stuff with me anymore, and I respect that. I apologise in advance for any disappointment.

Can I recommend the pyranha G3? It's nice and roomy.

The club also has one which you can try for 6 months before you buy.

Or you could swap your disco for the club one. No-one paddles it cos it's a shit boat so it's in great nick.

Hey Jim,

Didn't a girl 'run' Niagara Falls and survive? Doesn't that then count?

I'm still reeling from your announcement by the way.

The only kayaker on record as having running Niagara Falls was a guy called Jesse Sharp. His boat was recovered but he was never seen again, prompting his friends to make up bumper stickers saying: 'Jesse Lives!'

I think that's pretty cool.

Sorry Colin, I'm still reeling myself.
