REC 3
« on: February 04, 2010, 17:24:27 »
Details of the REC 3

Times: 5pm on Friday 26th of March. It will run till about 10pm on Friday then from 9am till 6pm Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th. Please try to be on time - we will be kicked out of the room promptly at closing time each day so there's very little leeway.

Where: UCD Student Centre, meeting room 5.

How much: The course will cost €137.50. This is to be paid to Finch by Wednesday 24th of March. If you are not around UCD or the club much you may be able to organise internet transfer.

What you will need: raingear, a carry mat if you have one, you can bring bouyancies and rescue gear for the scenarios (these won't be on the water). Also if you have a first aid kit you can bring it for advice but if you don't have one don't worry, it's not necessary.

Any other queries contact me.

The List:
KMcK
Eoghan
Finch
Leighton
Sara
Dave O'R

Mine expires in a couple of months

How much would it cost if you have your Rec 3 but just need to renew it, so sit in as a refreshers course ?

Dan - All places on this course are the same price. This course is a full REC3, I think if you want a purely refresher course it has to be set up separately and may take less time but we don't have the numbers to run one.

Just to mention to any freshers out there.........this is entirely a FIRST AID course your standard of paddling doesn't come into it! (just a mistake i made last year :) )

Not quite, I seem to remember someone telling me that something will be done on the river too but it's not hard!!

Unless it's changed since I did it last, there is no aspect that is done on the river. There maybe scenarios that are tailored to paddling but most first aid takes place on the bank anyway. You could be talking about the SRT or the RSR1 &2, these are taught on the river. I would recomend this to anyone who does not have a first aid qualification and those that do it is a good course for the outdoorsie type person.

Depending on location & instructor they can set up scenarios on the river, the one i did with Trinity had a scenario day at the picnic site on the Avonmore... you may have to wear gear & get wet but it doesnt involve paddling.
