old kayak-what to do?

Carla!:
It has about 3 cracks or so, I don't know if they go the whole way through they are just like hairline ones anyway.

--- Quote from: kmck on May 26, 2011, 19:27:33 ---To be honest it looks older than either of those designs, I'd have to look at it to be sure. Test it by filling it with water and look for the leaks.  Still it's a fibre glass boat and the hull looks in good nick for something living in a garden.

it was in a garage not a garden!

Well if its of no use then its cool. Is there anyway of selling it for someone to cut it up and use it for parts in that case?

Nuala:
You could try filling with water and seeing how cracked the hull is. If it's in anyway reasonable stick it up on Irishfreestyle and ask for maybe 100/150 euro ono, you never know you might get a bit of money out of it (be honest if there's cracks and include photos in the post).

If there's no interest in buying it you can give it to the club then. If people are interested/there's time after the exams (so maybe in 3 weeks or so) we were thinking of doing a boat hull fixing day and we could try to make something out of it.

I believe Eoghan said

--- Quote from: Eoghan on May 26, 2011, 19:00:08 ---sounds like we'd like it if its being thrown out

I think the club will take it off your hands if you can't find a more profitable option.

I don't think that how fibreglass works.

Carla!:
Asked my rents what they thought and they said if its any use to the club than they can have it. I won't be around much longer, should be heading up to bundoran next week, SO me and my dad were thinking of dropping the boat into the boathouse tomorrow morning (provided the locks have yet to be changed?) if that is alright with comittee. Yous can take a look at it when you do a boat fixing day before college and see what yous think about fixing it up for using in racing. And if its really of no use for anything it can be dumped.
