Liffey descent launch with special early bird

It used to be level 3, but looks like attendance at 3 ranking events or pre race assessment are now needed to compete, you'd want to contact the organising committee on that.

Also for lazy people who want to be heros, rescue!

BOOM!

Looks like a whole new reason / reminder that L3s are the craic!

If anyone's interested in getting a L3 under their belt before the new freshers arrive contact our new training officer Niall :)

As we left it at the end of last year there was a good bunch of people who were at / close to that standard, so grabbing one over the summer would be pretty slick. When the new freshers arrive we'll have our hands full with them for a while so best get ahead of the pack now while it's easier!

The entry requirements haven't changed in at least as long as I've been paddling.
A Level3 is neither required nor adequate for entry.
The stated creteria are that you must have either:

1. Completed the Liffey Descent since 2007

or

2. Completed three rough-water marathon races this season.

or

3. Get a level3 instructor to sign your form, stating that you are of the required standard to complete the race. this isn't the same as getting a Level3, it's up to the instructor whether or not they agree and you shouldn't feel bad if they say no.

A rough water race is a marathon race that's on not completely flat water.
There are three left before the Liffey Descent:
Erne river race, the Lower Liffey race and the Corrib race - dates in the stickie list.

Follow it on facebook

If you don't want to compete, rescue has always been an option for getting a free meal, t-shirt and entry to the night out, this may change depending on sponsorship. Also a lot of thank you's from the competitors, except for one guy in a C1 about ten years ago who gave out to Cheesey for pulling him out of a stopper or the guy who popped his shoulder and just wanted two panadol to keep going... nearly all competitors will thank you.

I'll cheer really loud for UCD people! Maybe push over some competitiors for you...
Go Pro on the head mind!
In fact I have a new mounting system that should allow me to create a bird's eye view of stuff.

A low flying bird.
On a stick.

Don't you both have L3s?

Level 3 doesn't count as letting you race - you need to be signed off by a L3 instructor, or have completed a Liffey Descent in the last 5 years, or have completed 3 qualifying races in the last year.
