L2 instructor hour logging - KAYAKING EXPLOSION!

I just wanted to draw attention to the fact that with L2 assessments going on at the minute, it's an excellent time to log some hours or at least sit in in the assessments.

We were told on the training course that the L2 assessments were very hard to come by, so while they're happening in our own club we should all make sure to benefit from that!

There are pages at the back of the log book where the assessing instructor signs that you were present at the assessment, this does not require you to have logged hours on the trip (in case anyone's nervous about that) which is great news since as we could all sit in on groups either logging hours or as rescue paying close attention (staying with the groups) and experience how an assessment works and what standards are needed.

Also, since this year's freshers are flying, we may not have L2 assessments later in the year cos they'll all be off plugging away at L3s!

Clarification:

Yes a Level 2 Instructor can teach Level 3 skills so long as it is on the flat water stretches, hence they can log hours on the flat sections of a Level 3 skills trip.

As of the TDU AGM last Saturday, 10 of the required 25 hours to be logged by a L2 trainee instructor can now be logged with a L2 instructor (previously hours could only be logged with a L3 instructor).

5 of the 25 hours can be logged in a pool (this was the case before Saturday too).

SO...

All L2 trainee instructors can now log in the pool anytime Kieran, Joey, Oisín or Dave O'R (L3) are there.
The first 45mins of all pool sessions will be devoted to working on L2 and L3 skills to prepare freshers/refreshers/others for L2 and L3 assessments.
L2 instructors are allowed to instruct L3 skills as long as it's in a L2 environment (eg a pool/flat section) so trainees can se the pool to log hours AND strengthen the club's coaching system AND prepare groups for assessment (which is a specific part of the log book you've to fill).

Absolutely golden opportunity here guys, everyone should take advantage!
