Clare Glens Trip Over Christmas Holidays?
« on: December 15, 2012, 12:57:43 »
Hey Guys

Its been 14 weeks since i joined the canoe club and in that time iv heard a lot of people talking about wanting to kayak the clare glens.. so step right up cause today is your lucky day :P

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpRHAyziuEE

I thought we could use this thread to try organize a trip over the christmas holidays. Maybe starting with who would be interested (freshers this might not be the thread for you, sorry haa)

If we pick 2 weekends (over week days if that suits) and then call it the day before depending if not there is going to be water or not, sorta like the competition

*Hijacked for organisation*

We can all access our skill in kerry first. thought that day after kerry would be a good time cause everyones together and the clare glens race is the 5th so people could practice and then compete in that if they liked, i can offer a few bed in my place if people need it

I'm interested, I ran top drop before, so all the rest would be new to me.
Not sure what my boat situation is, but I should have that sorted by Kerry.

i think everyone should be ok really.. just use kerry wisely and thing about what you need to practice and get to down in kerry and then use it on glens .. dont just arrive at the river and make it your goal just to make it to the other end really think about what you can practice and use as much of the river. A key thing everyone should be practicing is eddying! it is the most important thing you can know

I'd like to give this a go, as long as I get on OK in Kerry :) The only thing would be getting a boat. Would we be able to borrow a club boat for this?
