First Aid Course (REC3)
« on: April 26, 2013, 16:48:08 »
Hello there!
I'm wondering would anyone be interested in doing a REC3 after the exams.

Are you going to organise one?

I would, depending on price

I'd also prefer if it was run as a Kayaking REC3

Same sentiments here, but if it meant a significantly lower price I wouldn't care if it was run for a more general audience.
If there was little difference in terms of price than obviously I would like to go for the kayaking orientated one.

Having done two of these, both book by and "tailored for" groups of kayakers...there wasn't that much kayak specific stuff, just the odd thing thrown in here or there. Not to say that they weren't very good and I wasn't perfectly happy with them, but if it hadn't been kayak-focused, I don't think it would have been too different.
You need to cover the same stuff for any wilderness first aid.

The last one was by Pat Reid and Gen..something, they were both very good.

I've to do one within the next six weeks, and it looks like the only way I'm going to be able to do it is get a group of people together. So I've go problem organising it!

There is a REC2 course down in Rosslare next weekend but it needs two more people in order to run,
WWKC is doing a REC3 on the 17th - 19th May, but I've an exam on the 18th.

I'll not be even considering doing one before the exams are finished!

I'm interested in a REC3 preferably.
I've an exam on the 18th too, so I'd be looking at doing it after then.

Done 3, 2 with Barry. 1 was for paddlers the other two where aimed at a more mixed group. It's a good course and it does help you to think about first aid differently. Anyone who paddles or hikes or generally breaths air should do one.
