Context:

In 2011 three students and a graduate of UCD (business I believe) approached UCDCC in the second semester to help them train for a sponsored paddle they were doing that summer.

None of them had ever paddled before, they joined the club and were brought on one or two private trips on the Dodder to learn the basics (partially shown in this video)

then came on a club trips

The only catch was that the sponsored paddle they planned on doing was across fjords in Norway and involved something like 50 or 80km in three days. Keeping in mind that they didn't know how to roll there was some skepticism about the viability of that plan.

I figured they would have been in touch with us in 2011 if they'd done it.
Their youtube channel does not include any footage of paddling in Norway and their website is no longer accessible.

It's a good video though.

Hmm, their last video seems to be about 5 days before they were planning to do it, and nothing since... odd

It was 200km in 3 days that they had planned; we all thought they were mad.

They did it though. It was on their website after they did it.

It turns out that they meant 200km in 72 hours of paddling double sea-kayaks, which took them about a week.
I'm sure that the money made it to charity, they didn't strike me as being folks who were short on cash.

I did 175km in 3 and a half days in a Bliss stick Mystic. 200km in a double sea kayak over a week would be grand.
