Varsities Trials 2018
« on: January 07, 2018, 23:52:20 »
So Varsities is only around the corner and with that comes trials/practice to pick out this year's competitors. Varsities will be taking place in Dublin from the 6th - 18th February. In preparation for this we will be holding trials in order to select the teams.

Slalom trails and training will be held on the 27th of January. Aisling Conlan has kindly offered to help us by running a skill corse in conjunction with the trials. This is a great opportunity for everyone to improve their Slalom everyone is encouraged to come along! Times TBC.

White Water trials will be held on Sunday the 28th of January in Wicklow. The course will be the run into Jacksons and Jacksons. Meet at the boathouse at 10am. We will have safety on the course so we encourage anyone with their level 3 skills to come and do the trials, even if you don't see yourself going for the team. Team selection will be based on results and over all paddling experience and ability.

Freestyle trials will be held in the pool on Wednesday the 23rd of Jan. We will run a mini competition and points scored will be taken. The final decision on the team won't be based on the points scored alone. Team selection will be based on the points scored and on overall freestyle experience.

Long Distance training will take place on the Canal at Portobello on the 3rd of Feb. Long distance will be primarily some training in wobbly boats as everyone can compete in long distance! LD is a great way to get involved for more inexperienced paddlers. The more entries we have in LD the better so please put your name down down below if you want to compete in LD in varsities! Your club needs you!

The Polo team will be chosen from those who have been competing in polo competitions all year. We hope to have this team picked before the polo comp on the weekend of the 20th so they will have a chance to play together before varsities. Sick your name down if you want to be considered for the polo team.

Please pop your name down and state the disciplines you would like to compete in.

Freestyle trials will be held in the pool on Wednesday the 23rd of Jan. We will run a mini competition and points scored will be taken. The final decision on the team won't be based on the points scored alone. Team selection will be based on the points scored and on overall freestyle experience.

Do you mean Wednesday the 24th? Would Thursday be better space wise in the pool?

Can people going for the team please read the IFC move description in advance .
