Welcome to the Canoe Club's website! This is the place to find news and information about the club's events.
If you've just joined the club, be sure and register for the website. Not only will you be able to post and reply to topics, as well send and receive PM's, but you'll also have the benefit of access to the general
bullshit banter section.
Although most of the information you'll need is on the website,
contact details for the committee are available on the website. If you have any questions at all then make sure and give Karen ( New Members Liaison Officer: 0863092247),your captain Cian (0861988050)or anyone on the committee a shout, its what they're there for.
What's Happening this weekend? This thursday (18/09/08), we are meeting at 7.30pm at the main gates of Trinity College for the first pool session of the year. Bring togs, and towel and general swimming pool stuffs! After the session we'll be heading to the pub. I can never remember what happens then, all I know is I usually make it home eventually.
Then comes the first saturday trip of the year! We are heading to
Dun Laoghaire!
For those of you that do not know how to get to Dun Laoghaire here are some easy directions.
BusThe best bus to get would be the 46A to Dun Loaghaire Dart Station. Get off the bus and walk away from Dun Laoghaire past the Dart Station towards the direction of Salthill and Monkstown. You will come to a bridge on your right, cross over it and you should see us there with a lot of Canoes and more than likely hungover Committee members. Approach us with caution.
DartIf you are getting the dart, get out and turn right and walk away from the station towards Salthill and Monkstown. same story applies there.
However, just in case you do get lost, at least one of the committee members will be standing at Dun Laoghaire Dart Station, probably Mark Egan - 0877450834, because he suggested it. If you feel lost, ring him and he will guide you safely there.
What to BringWe provide all your kayaking equipment, but be sure to bring your togs and a towel. If you have a wetsuit and booties fantastic, otherwise make sure you bring a pair of old runners or something for your feet. Any thermals or old fleeces are also really handy. If you don't have any you can pick one up in Penneys for cheap. The important thing is NO COTTON! When cotton gets wet it gets cold; use fleece, nylon, etc instead.
See you there!
