Howdy folks
On
Sunday the 21 March there is a plan for an international effort to clean up areas of rivers, lakes and coasts.
As part of this clean-up day, we propose to clean up the banks of the
Dodder at Clonskeagh Bridge - both upstream and downstream of the bridge. This is a great, local spot that could be a brilliant location for training in the future.
As some of you already know, in the last few weeks Benny has been talking about us using this site as a location for flatwater teaching, polo and slalom training, as well as a handy spot to practice a bit of flatwater freestyle. With difficult access to the bank downstream of the bridge, lines for slalom gates and polo goals would hopefully not be messed with. And with Clonskeagh Bridge being only 400m from the boathouse, it's a short walk/drive to get there.
The water quality is similar to the Liffey at Lucan, but the banks could do with a clean-up, with rubbish and some overhanging trees along the river.
So, we are looking for volunteers to come out on the day - Sunday the 21 March - and help in the clean-up effort.
We'll post up more information closer to the time.
These posters give you an idea of what the day's about:
So post up here if you're interested.
Thanks
Matt
