Polo

Now that everyone is still all competition mad after our rather successful Varsities you'll be happy to know it's not all over - there's still a chance to compete!

Yes this spring we will be taking entering the Dublin Canoe Polo League! We'll be putting together a panel of (hopefully) 10 people, training them up a bit, and unleashing them at the poor teams who have the misfortune to compete against us.

Don't worry if you don't know how to play, none of us do!   ...Yet ;)

We'll hopefully be setting up a practice pitch on the Dodder and running a few training sessions before the matches. So who is interested in joining the Dodder Rats?

That's our team name by the way, in case no-one got that.

I goddamn love rats, count me in! Assuming I don't get bogged down with with work that is, what days would matches and training be? I assume that I should learn to hand roll for this.

...but the matches are on Friday evenings...?

Also, all the polo equipment - boats, helmets, buoyancy aids, paddles - are provided by the league for the matches.

And it all takes place in the pool at St. Joseph's School for the Deaf on the Navan Road out in Cabra, so any drivers are welcome ;D

I think he means every Friday evening we aren't in matches. Matches won't be every week. First night of Div4 will be on 12th March, I think all teams in this division will play that night.

I like the idea of Friday evening training but we may have to tailor some training times to fit in with when we can get someone to train us. And we have to set up a pitch first.

There might be some Fridays when I wouldn't be finished until 5 but other than that it would be a good day to do it on.

You don't need to hand roll, but it's handy to have. We saw a good few t-rescues during varsites.

It should be noted that anything Lambe says, the opposite is what he means. Therefore, Lambe would not like to be part of this.

In case you didn't know Lambe, I'm bitter!! You promised you'd go, promised!!!
