Some tips on staying warm
I just though I would add some tips on staying warm on the river as the weather is getting much colder. I noticed people getting cold last Saturday and I know I was so cold all the time when I was new because I didn't know how to dress for the river, don't let the same happen to you!:

Thermals- you will hear people mentioning these a lot, and might not know what they really are... Thermals are basically clothes which trap the warmth of your body and help keep you cosy on the river. It is possible to buy actual thermals from shops, however fleeces keep you just as warm and most people have some of them at home. If you own a rash vest or anything like that, put that on too. The more layers the warmer!

Tights- these keep you very warm although you may not think it. Any old pair will do (as long as it is a man made material- not cotton or wool etc). Get a pair with holes you don't wear anymore and wear two pairs you'll be even warmer!

Pink Furry socks- Those big furry man socks you get from places like pennies (once again artificial materials poly anything not wool or cotton etc)... Apparently they keep your feet warm. The pink colour is optional although Karen seems to think these look the coolest! Ski socks can work too

OTHER THINGS- They say you lose most your heat through your head. so there are people around who wear a swimming hat (one of the plasticy ones) under their helmet kayaking in the winter- traps heat AND keeps your hair dry when you capsize! bingo!
LAYERS- Don't just put on ONE fleece/thermal put on lots! and if people offer you more put them on too!
EATING LOTS- get fat, it keeps you warmer

Ok this is all I can think of so far... If anyone has any other tips post them up, or point out anything I mentioned wrong!
Carla

Man up and buy a fleece onesie. You could look as cool as these dudes.

I'll be there anyway. Don't even think about taking the G-Force Eoghan.
