Advanced First Aid (REC3)
Mr C:
Hi guys,
As promised a while ago I'm putting together a REC3 type course. I've been in touch with Mick Treacy (who did our REC2) and he is willing to run an Advanced Wilderness First Aid (AWFA) course on 28/29 February.
The AWFA award is the new version of the REC3 and it is apparently more appropriate to our needs. There is a textbook that comes with the course as well (apparently the REC3 notes aren't that good?). You can check our more about the new award at http://www.cdsoutdoor.org.
The cost is €90 or a little less. This award is appropriate for those hoping to become Level 3 Instructors or for those who need to revalidate their REC3. There is no real need to spend this money otherwise. Also, you must hold a current Basic First Aid Cert, at least, to do this course. I suspect there will be a limit of 12 places as before. If you've already told me then you're down (see below). If you're interested please post & if you want to pull out please post.
The names of the people who have stated their interest so far are:
1. Colin Caprani - €90
2. John Kelly - €90
3. Juan Carlos Fernando Alonso Ricardo Patresi Alessi Balesterous
4. Tom Bannon
5. Cormac Lynch - €90
6. Sean Jennings - €90
7. Andrew Sherwood
8. Daniel Joyce - €90
9. Eoghann Powell - €90
10. Barbara McMoooo
11. Maebh Cryin'
12. Mick O'Donnell - €90
13. Baz A Matazz
14. Simon Barry
Mr C:
Hey!
Update already! I have a better idea of price now & it will be €90pp with the possibility that it may even be a little less!! I didn't think it would be so cheap so here's your chance to get certified on the cheap!!
Here is the course content for your info: http://www.cdsoutdoor.org/AWFACurric.htm
Also, depending on location we can take 14 to 16 people & not 12 - great news!!
slapper:
Any idea where the location for the course might be?
Can we do it in Belfield? That would suit a lot of people on the list.
Great news about the price. Good work Mr.C
Lil Lisa:
hey campers,
am really interested in doing the course but was wonderin if ders any other requirments apart from the first aid cert,ie.paddling wise.if not i would like to nominate this lowly fresher to do da course,
thankx
:P lisa
El Diablo:
As before I can offer a scout hall in Stilorgan for the weekend if getting rooms is a problem. We can also sleep there if getting to and from Stillorgan is a problem for anyone.
I am still interested. Now I just have to convince work that Advanced Wilderness First Aid is necessary for office first aid.
BTW could Mick include an occupational first aid cert for me with the course. The last REC 3 I did included occupational first aid. I know this may cost more, but this way, work pay.
