Advanced First Aid (REC3)
cormac:
For the same reason I'd be interested in the occupational first aid cert.
I've been in Mick Moore's office though, and it's pretty wild, so he shouldn't have any problem getting work to pay for AWFA...
Babs:
I'd be interested...give me a shout if there are any places left after all the actual paddlers have signed up!
Brendino:
I was chatting to another first aid trainer recently with a view to doing a wilderness course again for the scouts. As a venue, he suggested Larch Hill. For those of you not familiar with it, it's the National Scout Campsite in Tibradden (Rathfarnham ish). It is a perfect spot for doing a wilderness course. Maybe you (Mr. C) could get in touch with them and see if it would be possible to use the venue. You can stay in hostel type accomodation there and get meals provided at a cost. I'm not sure if you'll be able to camp because it's winter. Call 01 493 1410 to see what the story is. Can't do any harm, can it?
Mr C:
Hmmm Brendino you've outdone yourself...the unfortunate thing is I'm a lazy git and that sounds like lots of work! As it is I'm looking at the ICU Training centre again or Belfield - the extra money for the hostel etc is probb not really justified. This is especially so considering that its between the varsities & the UCDCC Ball - expensive times for most people already.
Thanks though - its certainly something to keep in mind for future operations.
slapper:
Any of the locations suggested so far are within driving/cycling/bus distance of most of us so hostelling wouldn't be needed for any of them.
The ICU centre would probably be one of the harder spots mentioned to get to for most of us (especially me who lives pretty much equi distant from stillorgan, belfield and larch hill. )
There's also a possibility of a b'day party in my place that weekend, so somewhere close to my place would probably suit most of the people on the course.
