Ok, since the show opens on Feb 29th and the Ball is on the 1st of March, we're looking at heading over after that really.

I suggest the following weekend, Friday the 7th of March.

Hey Bex,

I would be up for joining ye, thats the weekend of my birthday, what a way to celebrate :)
Title: Re: Cirque du Soleil
Post by: bexifurr on November 27, 2007, 15:01:15
OK, right:

Leaving Dublin for AMS on Thursday 6th and returning Sunday the 9th is 92.65 euro all inc.

Hostel in Amsterdam for three nights 60euro

Cirque du Soleil ticket from 25euro (restricted viewing) to 69euro

Altogether, that's 200 euro for averagely priced ticket.

That's too bad for a city break including a show like this!

if u fly out on the 6th, back on the 10th its 80 euro, but means an extra night of paying for a hostel!

How far in advance would ya have to book tickets?? cause i'd say they'll be in high demand!

indeed. but you weren't on your own list.

flights have gone up to about â,¬130 with aerlingus.... who else flies into amsterdam or somewhere near..... i dont trust my knowledge of geography to try figure it out myself :P
Title: Re: Cirque du Soleil

Title: Re: Cirque du Soleil
Post by: JODY on January 28, 2008, 14:07:27
Flights with ryanair to Eindhoven are about â,¬100 i think theres a bus that'll get you to amsterdam from there.
Title: Re: Cirque du Soleil
Post by: Asho87 on January 28, 2008, 14:08:49
id prefer to fly direct than have to worry about getting around. the return bus would probably be 20 euro or more anyway so that wouldnt be worth it
Title: Re: Cirque du Soleil
Post by: Asho87 on January 28, 2008, 14:21:41
so flights thursday to monday are 130,

what tickets are we looking at cause they range in prices from 30-74 euro. but the 30 euro tickets look like you wont be able to see that much, so should we go for the 40-ish euro tickets or what do people think?

looked up hostels and stuff and could get decent enough (from the look of websites) for 20 euro a night? but im sure people who've been to amsterdam before would have more of an idea about that!
http://www.hostelbookers.com/hostels/netherlands/amsterdam/

170 + hostels (4x20(?)) = 250 + getting around/food = 350+

hmmmm.....

...the airlingus link above keeps timing out "session expired" when I try to link it here....anyone know how to do a screen grab.... ???

We can get there for under 100eu...but it is more of a wed-sat deal..... wont suit anyone working... :(

e.g. depart dublin wed 5th March..(3 nights)..return Sat 8th march...92.65 all incl...

      depart dublin thu. 6th march..(3 nights)...return Sun 9th march...162.95 all incl..

      Fri 7th - sun 9th...222.65..(2 nights)...yikes.....

      Sat 8th - tue 11th...(3 nights)...117.65.....

If someone can do a screen grab (or even take a digi photo and post it) from the airlingus website it would make this much clearer..... :)

Check out www.easyjet.com too.  They fly from Belfast international airport direct to Amsterdam.  It's not that far a drive to Belfast and could be a fun road trip (and not that pricey if petrol and parking is split) to start the weekend on, or bus trip as the case may be.  I found flights out on Saturday at 09:50 returning Tue at 17:40 for EUR60.88 return.  I don't know if these dates would even suit but it might be worth looking into.

:) Hi Siobhan...yeah Belfast is an option I suppose......it sounds like a good price....but.....well we know what the downside of it is.......

From the list above, Kerry is the only other working person (I think?).

I'd be as happy to take Wed - Fri off and do this as a Wed - Sat thing, as to go Thur - Sun and wind up probably having to take Monday off to recover. Either way that's 3 days off work.

How do you all feel about missing college?

I would love to go, but i'm going to the states for the break... I highly recommend the Flying Pig Hostel. There are 2, downtown and uptown.  The downtown one is rowdier and in the middle.  The uptown one is more laid back, it is a little out of the city center, right on the edge of Vondelpark. Both are a good time.

Monday - Thursday?

is this with Trinity?

Here's where I'm at: I have to have my project finished by March 7 and I don't want to take any time off before then (or even that weekend). Any time after that, I'd love to go to Amsterdam, but a long weekend is so much better than midweek. Is there really that much of a price difference? Could we not just go Thursday to Monday instead of Monday to Thursday? surely the flights would be the same then, no?
Title: Re: Cirque du Soleil

yes there really is that much price difference, friday to monday would be 250 euro versus 85 bills for tues to thurs :P

Why would you go Tue 11 - Thur 13 for â,¬87.90 when you could go Wed 12 - Sat 15 for â,¬74.90? It's an extra night for â,¬13 less (which basically covers your hostel) and Wed/Thur/Fri are much better nights to go out than Tue/Wed.

Or how about Sun 16 - Tue 18 or Wed 19? In Amsterdam for Paddy's Day (is that fun?) for just â,¬97.90 AND I don't have to take 3 days off work.

yeah, let's decide.

There's always a chance I won't be able to go. And I won't know that that'll be the case until probably the week before. So maybe I should just duck out altogether. I would love to go though, and I definitely can go if we get this to involve as few days off work as possible.

Why don't we push it back to Easter weekend? Wed March 19 - Sun March 23 is only â,¬87.90 and only involves one day off work.

Herding cats, watching you guys is like watching someon herding cats. If you guys want to go for three days and diarmaid doesn't want to go that early in the week, now this may seem like a crazy idea but how about just overlapping a few days rather than trying to accomadate each other you both get what you want. You all get to go and have fun together but your not tied at the hip.

Its not organising it that was the problem johnny some of us just dont have that kind of money to go abroad to see a show that we can see in this country for a fraction of the price. I dont see what the big deal we still get to see the show, and if you wana get baked and sleep with prostitutes you can do that here  ::).

:) Anyway no big deal caz.....it's just that there were quite a few people into it the last time i talked to them (at dannys party)....and now they seem to be...well...not into it...as i said i contacted folks via private message and only got one reply (not going) ??? must have been the drink talking....

I have very little money myself and just feel a bit stupid that i have been trying to save up for this for ages and now nobody is up for it...thats all....[/i]  :(

Peace... :)
