Hi guys
I know we've a lot of trainee instructors and I managed to get the south dublin county council calendar for child protection courses. So ill try organise a course if you like.
So does anyone need to do one? Roughly when would you like?
This is also open to people who arent trainees but maybe considering going for level 2 or 3 instructor in the future, or might consider working with kids in any sort of role. It'd be great on a CV.
Most importantly its CHEAP just €15!!! so if your interested post up or give me a shout on 0876612534,
Dave.
I'd be interested!
Yeah, fair point, not bad on a CV, could come in handy for some sort of potential employment system in the future... I'm in.
i'm in
great! any idea of dates that would suit you ( early/mid/late x month?) iv their calendar up until decmber or if we have a group we might organise 1 just for us.
I'd have a preference for after the midterm break (ie 21st of March on) and maybe for a Sunday?
(Quite a few midterms before then)
hmmm yeah maybe after week 8 because people will be away for the break and then theres always a few exams in week 8... :)
I'd like to do the course as well please.
throw me down for that course too,
im busy every weekend until midterm break so any time during midterm or any weekend after would be sound,
you know what, i might actually take part in this :) obviously im not going for trainee instructor or anything! ;) but it seems like great value and iv worked in a creche etc in the past and wouldn't mind a working with kids again in future. how long does the certificate last?
I've done this course before and it's well worth having on your CV even if you don't usually work with kids. As far as I'm aware you do the course once and you don't have to renew the cert again. The Sports Council also offer certs in coaching people with special needs and a club children's officer course which are very cheap and the info is worth knowing.
The second weekend of the mid-term!!
not during the midterm!! people (me ;) ) are away... afro.gif
I'm in!

What i will try and do is organise one just for us if they'll let me. they'll have to answer their phones and emails first ... the gits...
Ill post more when i know more.
I'm very interested - preferably after week 10 so from April on. Also preferably on a weekend.
If you're working with kids than you'd better watch what you say or you might get into trouble:
(from fmylife.com)
QuoteToday, I was working as an intern at a day care. One of the kids touched my chest a couple of times, and I jokingly told him that he shouldn't touch old and ugly women like me. So he started groping the little girls instead. When the other teachers asked him why, he said I had told him to. FML

wow thats terrible!!
Ok guys so things arent looking great I'm afraid:
- we cant organise one for just the group of us as they want a few different sports in each course to keep things diverse and there is mammoth demand.
- what this also means is that there can only be about 3-5 of us on a course
- there are 5 spaces on a course with south dublin county council on april 6 they give preference to people from that constituency so if your from there it would suit better but i need to know ASAP as they fill up super fast and your place is only guaranteed when they receive payment
- There is one with Dun Laoire Rathdown county council (UCDs constituency) so suits locals on19th of april again I need to know asap
- Just to reiterate that theyll only take 3-5 on each course and I need to know fast
Toodles,
The Tiniest of Tim.
I suppose I could do both, I'm a South Sider but cause I'm in UCD I may get the other one!! I don't wanna do it on my own. :'(
How much?
How long does this take? They are both on weekdays and I can't miss placement. But if it is evening I'm interested in either and live in South Dublin.
And yes, how much?
sorry they are both €15 and 3 hours long (6:30-9:30)
DLRCC's course is in Shankhill tennis club.
SDCC's one is in Clondalkin (The leisure centre on the Nanger road)
DLRCC one sounds fine to me can you put me down for that please.
My address should be School of Biology and Environmental sciences, UCD belfield, dublin 4
Hey,
I'd like to do the SDCC one on the 6th of April,
I live in DLRCC, but I have a class at that time on the 19th, so I couldn't go.
Let me know if that works out + I'll get money to you asap
:)
That's great, I'd like to do the South Dublin one if possible. I live in SDCC.
