These lads/lassies do rescue at Leixlip bridge (first real obstacle after Leixlip dam), and then after the last competitor has passed, they run the whole way down to the end and make sure that there's noone left on the river

Sweep stays behind the last person in the race, so they do the whole course making sure nobody gets left behind or the likes.

Maybe they collect lost gear too and bring it to the next weir for lost property, I'm not sure.

These people will need their phones on the water and if there are any newsflashes Canoeing Ireland will contact them.
Once we get to the end these will also be the contact people for tshirts, free dinner coupons and after party tickets.

The t-shirts were ordered yesterday, they are supposed to be an improvement on last year's. I'm not sure what the design is, but they said they'll keep us all one in our size for the end.

Did sweep a few years ago, don't forget to put your bung in, I was near the Garda club when I copped it. Conor Ryan Kindly dragged me from my boat at the end and got me food cause I was knackered!
