A L3 instructor assessment is being run by Canoeing Ireland this Sunday from at their centre at Strawberry Beds.
The trainee instructors who are being assessed need to demonstrate how to teach all the skills on the L3 syllabus and therefore need a group of paddlers between L2 and L3 skills standard to use as guinea pigs.
UCDCC have been asked if we have anyone we could send out to be a guinea pig, who's interested?

WHERE: Canoeing Ireland training centre is here: map with directions from UCD
WHEN: This Sunday at 10:00, off the water at 15:00.
HOW: There won't be a club bus, whoever goes will have to drive or arrange lifts
HOW MUCH: There is no cost for this as you'll be volunteers, but you'll need to factor in sharing the fuel cost to get there and possibly getting food after.
WHAT TO BRING: The CI centre has boats, decks, paddles, BAs, helmets and wetsuits they can give you, you'll just need togs, towel, shoes, thermals and soap/shampoo for the showers at the end.

WHO:
We do not yet know how many people they need, but this would be open to club members from freshers up.
To get the most out of a day like this you should
- be very comfortable with all the L2 skills
- have tried/be working on some L3 skills
- be very interested in learning some more

Note:
If you go you will be representing UCD Canoe Club while you're there, so it's important to
- be on time
- have good manners (like your mother told you!)
- generally be sound
- bonus points: their trailer is like ours, so you should all know how to help pack it
- more bonus points: learn loads of kayaking!

We'll see who signs up, how many are needed and some committee discretion will be used to pick who goes if it's over subscribed.
But don't worry if you can't go, club trips will be focusing more and more on L3 training from now on, so if you can't go to this you'll still get to learn.

Don't you already have a L3 though?

kmck

True, but in all honesty I don't think I would pass today, also I should have put in the classic phrase if we don't get the numbers

I really don't think I should :D

Sorry you've to build a pasta bridge and you say Sunday is the last day. So that gives a few hours today, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to do it. Break the project down into two hour work packages you've got 4 days so 2 hours a day. I'm last minute and a procrastinator of the highest order but you can certainly manage that. It' will also be good practice to get out of the last minute habit

Andru93

I can do it as well!! Plus I shall have a car!!
