Brian Keogh Talk on Nepal and trips away!
« on: February 18, 2007, 16:24:14 »

Brian Keogh will be doing a talk for us on Tuesday

Waaay! This is a great talk for anybody who's travelling this summer and in particular it will give a good idea of the viability of a trip to nepal

Some old info about brian from teamh20.

Brian Keogh or "Keoghser"

Keoghser is a very experienced Outdoor Instructor and a passionate Kayaker. He is also a H2O Team member. He has paddled all over the world in places such as Nepal, Costa Rica, British Columbia, the Alps and more. He is widely known for his laid back approach to life and his wit. But its his expertise on the water that makes him part of Team H2O. Over the years Brian has instructed many groups and his knowledge of slalom kayaking adds an indepth technical knowledge to his skills.

In summer 2004 Keoghser is guiding for H2O in the French Alps with Jon, Kipper, Wongy and Jeff. He is has just competed in the Teva Extreme race in Italy and lived to tell the tale! In August he is off to Northern India as part of the first ever Irish Expedition to tackle the famed Zanskar river. In September he will join Jon on the Zambezi for 3 more weeks of Big Water! Later this year Brian think's he might come home and do an honest days work! But then again he might just go off on another trip!

Kayaks Used - Necky Chronic & Blunt
Gear Used -Rough Stuff Kayak paddles & Nookie clothing
Sponsors - H2O Extreme, Smith Eyewear
Qualifications - Irish Canoe Union Level 4 Kayak Instructor
Irish Canoe Union Level 5 Proficiency

Will there be copious free beer at this?  I hope not.

It was highly embarrassing when Simon Westgarth, one of the best paddlers in the world - and one of the people at the cutting edge of teaching paddling - came to impart his wisdom and knowledge to UCDCC and people were getting drunk while he was talking.  Fair dues, have the free beers, but at least wait until after a guest speaker has finished their talk.

i didnt think that i saw any one getting wasted at the simon westgarth talk i mean there were 3 crates of rolling rock between 30 people which to me dosent seem copious. and simon was having a few drinks while giving the talk.

that said point taken, it would be very disrespectful to our guest speaker to be getting drunk at such events.

Yeah, and as for his minger of a girlfriend...

Anyhoo, reading between the lines, I think this talk is on Tuesday, February 27, but at what time? Is Keoghser talking on Zanskar? Nepal? Hairstyling? Where is this on?

All the details are contained  in a top secret dossier, along with the fabled "Mark Ahern training plan", One of the best kept secrets of the Cox administration. :)
