Finally managed to pull a team together:

Jer, Myself, Ailbhe

I am a refresher, refreshers can compete in the fresher category as already stated.

You were a refresher!

When did refresher come to mean someone who joined the club in the second semester? It was coined for people like Sara Hayden who joined the club, left the club and then was convinced to come back so that year they were called a refresher ie someone who was having another fresher year with the club.

First college year with the club is fresher even if that is only the second semester, no longer a fresher when the first fresher joins in September! Simples

For purposes of this competition Simon's decision is final since he's running the event.

With that kind of armchair moaning Dave you're looking for a fast track to grumpy oldie in no time

Just to be a dick here and throw another ingredient in the mix - last year Joey was not "technically" a Fresher - he had joined the Club the previous year but didn't come to a whole lot so was allowed to compete as a Fresher.

Jus' sayin' loike

I don't care anymore but I have to say there's nothing like stirring shit and irritating people on internet forums over trivial things :) I'm just arguing within the confines of a set of parameters ;) and Kieran, I think the modern interpretation of a "refresher" is down to the titling of the open day in the second semester when all the clubs and societies set up stands as "refresher's day".

What about leap years? Surely people joining in a leap year have an unfair advantage?

Hi Everyone,

Sign up closes at 17.00 on Thursday to give me time to organise the running order for saturday morning. I'm not taking any new sign ups on the day so get your teams in a.s.a.p.

If people are finding it tough getting the right people just do your best and if you can't get someone get anyone. We can take it into account on the day if you have three college types etc.

Also if it ends up that theres a team of two or one person left out just ask people already in a team to do a run with you and highlight when posting your team the people who are already signed up in an existing team.

This is a fun event so lets not turn in rule nazis

Simon

Eh need a bit of knowledge here. I'm looking to run an outlaw for the boaterX. Its a boat I'm comfortable using but i'm just wondering what experienced paddlers advice is on this?

I've a feeling it wouldn't be as fast as other boats that the club owns.

Probably better in a GTX even, I'm no expert but it would have more volume so it should be more forgiving and stable.?

If you're comfortable in a boat stick with what makes you happy, hull speed isn't everything when you are negotiating rapids. Just make sure whatever boat you take is fit for purpose
